We have had a great start to the new term! I am thoroughly enjoying working with Class One and look forward to teaching our exciting curriculum this term.
Class 1's topic this half term is 'All Creatures Great and Small.' We have been talking about ourselves and our families.
Thank you to all the parents who brought in a family and baby photo to add to our display in the classroom. The photographs have helped to personalise the classroom, enabling the children to feel familiarity and have a sense of belonging.
Our History topic includes how we have changed, the history of toys and creating a family tree.
Year 1 have started their On- Line Safety 'Kidssafe' with Miss Walsh and all the children are learning numbers and colours during their French lesson.
Mr Lawman and I are very excited to begin the maths teaching which starts in October. It is an exciting opportunity for Class One to progress even further with their maths skills.
We will be visiting church on Monday 2nd October to learn about the Harvest Festival and on Monday 9th October to learn about baptism which is our next Come and See topic.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Autumn walk around Father Peter's garden. We saw lots of signs of Autumn and enjoyed bringing some back to the classroom to add to our Autumn display.
We will be organising a trip and inviting some AOTs (Adults other than Teachers) to enrich and enhance the curriculum to add some 'wow' experiences this term. We will be exploring Withnell to help broaden children's first hand experience and learn about their local area.
