Music for everyone

C'est trop froid

As part of the children work in French, the children in class 3 have written their own (completely on their own) version of Goldilocks and the three French. The children have weekly French lesson from Reception class, each year they grow in confidence and knowledge of how to speak, read, write and understand French. The children also learn about various aspects of French culture from children in Class 1 learning about Gustav Eiffel to the children in Key Stage two learning about Bastille Day and other French speaking nations.

Forest Fridays!!

Forest Fridays. The children in class 1 have built themselves a long-boat in the 'forest' as part of their Viking topic. A great time had by all!!

Mission Day

The annual cake sale on Mission Day was a great success. The children raised nearly £300 selling various cakes to other children, parents and parishioners. The money was then divided between each class who would decide which charity they would like to send their money to.

Computing and Design Technology

As we seek to enhance all areas of the school curriculum, the Year 6 children have taken on an exciting challenge. A unit of work which combined both Design technology and Computing; the children had to build and programme a set of traffic lights using the python coding language language learnt in Computing and the Raspberry Pi equipment. The children loved the challenge and many met expectations well in excess of the primary curriculum.

Whole School Samba performance - Music

As part of our Music curriculum, the children in Year 2-6 have had the opportunity to learn how to play the Samba Drums. The 6 week unit of work culminated with a performance for parents on the final Thursday afternoon. The children in Year 6 played a percussion piece set to 'The Greatest Showman' whilst the children in Class 2 and Class 3 developed their ability to play various samba rhythms.

Year 6 do Strictly Come Dancing

As part of their unit of work on dance in P.E., the children in Y6 had to develop and perform a unique dance. The culmination of 6 weeks work was the 'Strictly Come Dancing Final' which was judged by two members of staff from Holy Cross. Alex and Archie were victorious with their combination of speed and top class footwork. Well done everyone!

As part of their Roman topic in History, the children in year 4 5 and 6 visited the Roman city of Chester. Here they are getting ready to parade round Chester.

Talk for Writing in Class 1

Armistice Art Work

For Armistice the children in school came off timetable and spent 3 days developing their painting techniques. We do this every term and the improvement in the children art has been rapid over the last 3 years. Here you can see the children refining their blending techniques and working on canvas.

Learning outdoors

The children in school have regular opportunities to learn outdoors. Here the children in Key Stage two are completing some team building games before they set sail across the reservoir in Rivington. More picture of class one and their camp fires to follow!
